Here is my 3rd galaxy practice submitted. I think it looks quite good. Need some more tweaking for sure but I think this is a very good result for 2 hours of work.
I think its good enough for a tutorial so keep your eyes open, tutorial is on the way! :D If everything goes as I planned I can make it next week.

The outer arms are near spot on. Though, as the matter spins and condenses into the center, the density of the stars their completely shit out the colors of gas. If you fade the dark dust near the center, it would look a lot better. Also, add some brown dust as well. The brown signifies the regions of some of the oldest matter within the galaxy.

Well since you asked. ;)

Overall it is awesome, and very very close to reality...however, the dark bands of dust need to be blended a bit more. They are too defined and look like a layer added as an afterthought.

Still, better than I can do with those programs! Can't wait for the tut!
